Islam's research lab is equipped with analytical balances, optical microscope, hot plates, convection dryers, ultrasound sonicators, supercritical dryer (tousimis), two glove Box (VTI, working conditions target <1 ppm for oxygen and moisture), High-temperature vacuum dryer (400 oC, MTI Corp), High-speed ball mill (MTI Corporation), high-frequency spin coater (MTI Corporation), coin cell battery crimper (MTI Corporation), 16 and 8 Channel Battery Analyzers (Biologic Inc), DTG 60 Thermogravimetric Analyzer (Shimadzu), high vacuum sealing line (customized with Swagelok), high-temperature muffle furnace (Thermofischer).
Moreover, the Islam group can access the “Multi-user Core Facilities” at Jackson State University which are equipped with Rigaku X-ray Powder Diffractometer (Rigaku MiniFlex 600, JAP), Intergraded Charged Couple Plasma Mass Spectrometry (iCAP Q ICP-MS, ThermoFischer Inc), ICP-OES (Optima 8000), Raman Spectrometer (variable photoexcitation 370, 532, 670 nm), Shimadzu Solid spec-3700 UV/Vis absorption spectra, UV-VIS Spectrometers (Varian Cary 3E, Varian Cary 300 Bio); Spectrofluorometer (Model FluoroMax-2); Nicolet FT-IR;, FluoroMax-2 Spectrofluorometer, Scanning Electron Microscopy equipped with Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (SEM, JS, M-IT100, Quanta 200), Transmission Electron Micorsocopy (TEM, JEOL 2100Plus and JEOL-1011), Micrometric Tristar for BET Surface Area Measurements (The TriStar II Plus), Freeze dryer E95536 (Labcono 71121 12L). Also, students of the Islam group have available computers and required software to carry out the research requires in this project.
Addtionally, our group has access to the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill's XPS and HRTEM facilities.
